Where to Stay in Bali (Best Hotels Guide)
Best Hotels in Ubud, Bali
Ubud is the heart of Bali, it is considered the cultural center of the island. Here you will find traditional places, temples and many great warungs. It still preserves the essence of Balinese cultureand alsobeing located in the center of the island it is a good place of operations. We recommend you stayat least 4 days in Ubud. One to get to know the city center and take it easy (especially the first day after the flight you arrive), another to get to know the surroundings of Ubud, and two more to make excursions to the north of the island and the east.
This is the hotelproposal in Ubud. By the way, we recommend that the hotel in Ubud has a swimming pool, you will surely appreciate it at the last minute after a day of visiting things.
Alam Terrace Cottages
It is located near the main street and has plenty of restaurants nearby. It has large rooms, modern furnishings, a terrace or balcony and some rooms have a view of the pool. What stands out most about this hotel is itsquality-price ratio. You can findrooms from 25 euros per night.
The pool is surrounded by palm trees and is ideal for a relaxing swim after a busy day of exploring Ubud and its surroundings .
MATHIS Retreat Ubud
This hotel is further away from the centre, but you can easily get tothe centre of Ubud by taxi in 10 minutes. What stands out most about it is that you are in the middle of the tropical forest surrounded by rice fields. It is a haven of peace in contrast to the busy Ubud.
The rooms are large and tastefully decorated,I especially love the bathroom. The breakfast is delicious, they have a spa and massage service. And let’s not even mention the pool. It’s amazing! Sometimes you can find good deals.
Wooden Villa
One of the things I liked most about Bali in general is thatyou can stay in some incredible villas from Hola catalogue at a really affordable price. Throughout this post aboutthe best hotels in BaliI will suggest several fabulous ideas of this type.
One of them is this amazing place where you can hear the sounds of the jungle from the villa. The rooms are super stylish and very spacious. Also, if you want, there are villas with one or two bedrooms. All of them havea private pool and some have a garden. Also, you have the option of ordering thefloating breakfastwhich is the best. I wouldn’t miss it. Also, it’s about a 15-minute drive from the center of Ubud.
Best Hotels in Canggu, Bali
This area in thesouthwest of Baliwas until recently a surfing hotspot. Nowadays it has become fashionable and surfers have seen their territory invaded byvillas, restaurants, cafes and shops. Everyone wants to go there! The truth is that thistrendy area of Bali is really cool. There are lots of Beach Clubs, beaches and cool restaurants. In Canggu we recommend you stay at least a day or twoand we recommend theBeach Club la Brisa Bali, it feels like you are in Ibiza for a moment, but at very affordable prices. These are thebest hotels in Canggu.
The Canggu Boutique Villas & Spa
This villa is one of thebest value for money you will find in the area. You can find villas for 60 or 70 euros per night. Really amazing. Plus, it’s not too far from Canggu, although you will have to take a Gojek taxi to get around. Although honestly, having this villa with a private pool to yourself will make you hardly want to leavethe hotel.
Allvillas have a private pool, minibar and terrace. The rooms are decorated in an elegant style and no detail is missing. The pool, although small, is a marvel to enjoy all to yourself. Don’t lose sight of this hotel!
Guru Canggu
This stylish accommodationoption in the centre of Canggu is also great. The beach is 800 metres away and you can easily walk there.
The good thing about this hotel is thatthe rooms are decorated in the purest Ibiza or Santorini styleand are quite spacious. In addition, the accommodation has a swimming pool and they show movies on Wednesdays.
Best Hotels in Uluwatu, Bali
Uluwatu is a region locatedon the Bukit Peninsula, the southernmost area of the island. What stands out most about this area are itsspectacular cliffs and beaches for catching waves. There are also plenty of Beach Clubs and the best beaches in Bali are located here. Also culturally, the Uluwatu Temple is located here, famous for its sunset views of the cliffs and its Balinese dance show. We stayed one night in this area, but if you want to spend more days relaxing, you should know that this area is great. These are thebest hotels in Uluwatu.
Uluwatu Sunrise
This hotel is fabulous. It consists ofwooden cabins decorated in a simple but tasteful way and with the typical Balinese bathroom. The best thing about it is the price, around 40 or 50 euros per night. A real marvel. It has a swimming pool, although I have to admit that the pool is smaller in reality than what is shown in the photos.
There are also family rooms, which are great if you are travelling with children. This way the children will have their own room next door and the bathroom is shared.
ONAYA Bali Resort
Nunggalan Beach is two kilometres from this wonderful hotel. The location is very good and quiet, with private parking and a beautiful pool. Thecabins are amazing, they look like something out of a fairy tale. Some even have views of the pool.
It is certainly the ideal place to spend a few days of rest in a completely idyllic hotel. By the way, the hotel isexclusively for adults.
Gravity Eco Boutique Hotel
In fact, there are two resorts, Gravity Eco Boutique Hotel and Gravity Suites, separated from each other by just two hundred metres. You can enjoy them in eitherbungalows on the top floor with views or in suites on the ground floor.
Overall the decor of the hotel and the pools are amazing. Thebathrooms are Balinese style with an outdoor shower and some bungalows even have a private pool. One of thebest hotels to stay in Uluwatu.
Best Hotels in Kuta, Bali
Kuta is one of the most touristicand lively areas of Bali. Despite the hustle and bustle, it is one of the most popular areas of the island due to its endless beaches, its sunsets and its location near the Bali airport. We actually prefer to stay in Canggu or Uluwatu, because they have a cooler vibe, but in Kuta there are also very good hotels at a good price. These are thebest hotels in Kuta.
Tribe Bali Kuta Beach
With spectacular views of Kuta Beach, this modern hotel hastop-notch rooms. Modern, spacious and some with a balcony. Perhaps, for my taste, it is a bit cold, in the sense that it is the typical hotel you can find in Europe,it does not have the typical Balinese decoration.
WhatI like most about the hotel is its panoramic infinity pool. It is without a doubt one of its strong points. From there you can marvel at the sunset while you have a quiet drink. It has a restaurant with a variety of gastronomic options.
MAMAKA by Ovolo
This hotel in Kuta is also an interesting optionfor staying in Bali. It is located near a shopping centre and several restaurants. The rooms are spacious and modern. The common areas are very nice and it has a gym.
Thebest thing about the hotel is undoubtedly the rooftop pool. It is an infinity pool with views of the beach and surrounded by hammocks and Balinese beds. Next to it there is a bar where you can eat or have a drink while enjoying the sunset. Near the hotel there are several entertainment and party venues, if you are interested in going out.
Best Hotels in Nusa Penida, Bali
If you’re in Bali for a few days,Nusa Penida is almost a must-see. You can visit it as a day trip from Bali or, as we did, stay overnight there. Its incredible cliffs and snorkeling spots make this island in the southeast of Bali an ideal choice. These are thebest hotels in Nusa Penida.
The Box Paradise Cottage
This is thehotel option we chose in Nusa Penida. It is an accommodation with cabins around the pool and the garden. In addition, the cabins have a small porch where you can have breakfast in peace.
The location of these cabins isquite close to the port of Sampalan. Although I admit that it is a bit far from the liveliest areas of the island, especially at night. But nothing that can’t be solved with a taxi or motorbike, especially for going out to dinner.
Mambo Beach Resort
If you prefer ahotel in Nusa Penida with a better location, this is definitely a great choice. The hotel has large rooms and has a pool in the center that is amazing. Therooms on the ground floor just have to open the bedroom door to get to the pool.
The hotel has a very good atmosphere, it has arestaurant with good foodandat dusk there is always live music. We stayed for one day and we loved it. You can go to the restaurant for dinner even if you are not a hotel guest.
Reynten Hill Resort
Anothergreat option in Nusa Penida at a really good priceis this hotel. The best thing about the hotel isthe views from the pool to the Agung volcano, as long as the day is clear, of course.
The hotel is made up offive small wooden houses, but they are very charming. And the pool area with infinity pool is ideal. And the price is usually quite affordable.

Eco Six Bali
If you want to treat yourself, this hotel is one of the best in Bali. It is also a bit far from the center of Ubud, towards Tirta Empul. The villas are very nice, all made of wood and totally Instagrammable, with small private pools in front of each one.
WakaGangga
At thisfive-star hotel you can sometimes findvery good value deals. It is located on the southwest coast of Bali, near Canggu and surrounded by rice terraces, making it a magical place.
The hotel hastwenty-one villas, each one more beautiful than the last, most of them with private pools. The best thing is the garden of the complex, very large and beautiful. Within the facilities of the complex there is also a gym and a spa. And it has a free transfer service to Canggu.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan
Thisfive-star hotel is located in Ubud, in the middle of the jungleand away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It consists ofexclusive luxury villas within an incredible complex and part of the Four Seasons chain, one of the most exclusive resort chains in the world.
The complex has a riverside restaurant, an outdoor pool, a spa, a gym and a café, and offers activities such as meditation and yoga classes. Of course, the price is too prohibitive for most people, but I’m telling you this because it’s probably one of the cheapest Four Seasons hotels in the world, considering the chain’s prices.
