1. Khaosan
Khaosan Road is the most famous street in Thailand and this is the most popular area for tourists to stay in Bangkok, as it is close to everything, offers the most affordable accommodation and has the most exciting entertainment options.
We have to confess that, despite the apparent “mess”, we love this region!
Known as the setting for the movie “The Hangover Part II,” the lively Khaosan area has a plethora of bars, restaurants, markets, and entertainment options. However, the area is also quite noisy and offers few public transportation options nearby.

With stunning views from all angles, the region gets its name from its location on the banks of the Chao Phraya River that runs through the city, used for fishing, transportation and to enchant the local landscape.
Although Riverside has BTS and metro stations, you can also take a boat to cross the river and reach other parts of the city. Hotels usually offer this service, but there are also public boats available at the nearest pier.

Nightlife is lively in Sukhumvit, with many options of restaurants, bars, shopping malls, shops, markets, rooftops and clubs.

What is the best area to stay in Bangkok?
Well, any of the above suggestions will be a good option.
In our case, we always choose to stay in the Kaosan Road area. That’s where I feel like I’m seeing the real Bangkok, not to mention the fact that it’s so close to most of the city’s main attractions that we can walk there.
Our first time staying at theDand Derm Hotelin Plea Kaosan (prices start at US$47), but we were careful to ask for a room at the back to avoid street noise.
On another visit to the city, for example, we chose to stay onRambuttri Street, which is parallel to Kaosan Road, but much less noisy and more sophisticated. We thought this wasthe perfect choice. This time we stayed atRambuttri Village Plaza(prices start at US$30).
